Folks:
The KT-34XA is now on the ground. A big tnx to Scott, K7LU and son Daniel -
both climbed the tower yesterday, loosened the boom U-bolt nuts and rotated
the boom so the elements were vertical, thus permitting me to later tilt the
tower close enough to the ground so I could remove the beam.
Please contact me if interested in a great performing tri-band beam.
BTW, the tower is sold - I hadn't mentioned it would be available because I
wanted to remove the antennas first, but my beam posting brought tower
questions and the later sale.

Folks;
This 20-15-10 meter beam is available for $300. It is currently on my
tower & has been since 1993; it is adjusted to favor the CW portions of each
band but is used almost 100% on phone w/o any VSWR problems (been having a
ball these last few days adding new 10 m. DX entities to my log).
I've made the price low enough that a new owner could get the "capacitor
tube update kit" ($45 2008 price from a great article by Tyler K3MM who has
rebuilt 3 KT-34XAs w/ excellent results).
Specs:
Boom length: 32'
Turning radius: 21/6"
Element length: 25'8" max
Wind Area: ~ 9 sq. ft.
Wind Survival: 100 mph
Weight: 68 lbs.
Gain (mfg. claims):
20 m.: 8.5 - 9 dBd 5 elements
15 m.: 9 - 9.5 dBd 5 elements
10 m. : 11 - 11.3 dBd 6 elements
50 ohm unbalanced
Power rating;\: 4 KW PEP
I would like to get it off the crank up/down, tilt-over tower ASAP so I can
replace the tower; issue is that I had my right hip replaced 7 weeks ago &
Dr. said I absolutely cannot climb a ladder (told him I wanted to clean out
my gutters & figured if he OKed that, I could climb on tower rungs).
I've developed a neat way to remove the beam myself (when I had 2 full-up
hips)- the problem was that the elements prevent the tower from being tilted
over close enough to ground level that I could get a ladder up to remove the
beam.
Solution is: by cranking the tower down, climbing to the mast & loosening
the boom U-Bolt nuts, I rotated the boom so the antenna elements went almost
vertical & in line w/ the mast - once the tower is tilted, the mast &
antenna are easily reached from ground level.
If the new owner (or perhaps another brave Club Member) would climb the
cranked-down tower & loosen the boom U-Bolts and rotate the boom, I would
greatly appreciate it - note that my M2 6 m. beam is also on the mast, but I
think I could reach it from ground level OK (can't remember if I used a step
ladder to reach those U-Bolts).
