In reading this whole saga, two things come to mind...
1. I wouldn't expect the performance impact from a 30-deg bend to be that
substantial. (Theoretically, think of vertical vs. inv-L as the extreme
case. On the more anecdotal side, there are lots of famous DXpedition pix
out there that show the verticals tilting at least 30-deg in the breeze.
But I have to bet the guys in the tents were still turning 5-6 Q's/minute
minimum.) A 30-deg kink certainly wouldn't deter me from attempting to load
the antenna up while I waited on parts.
2. At 138.50 for a piece of straight aluminum, I'd give FIY (fabricate it
yourself) some serious thought!
