Ten is coming back! I ran Whisper (WSPR) all weekend on 10 meters and
got hits from Australia and New Zealand in addition to tons from Europe.
I was running 15 watts into a dipole. www.wsprnet.org/ for more info
and propagation map.

Tom, the contest is a great way to work some DX.

The 40M band was wide open around 5 AM this morning; I worked Hawaii,
New Zealand and Australia on SSB.

Also, a non contest event is occurring. The 12 meter (WARC band) is
ALIVE with signals.

It's a Good day for amateur radio in every way. I have hopes the 10
meter band will open later today.

As you tune around the phone portion of the HF (non-WARC) bands, you ll
hear many stations participating in the CQ Worldwide WPX contest.

The purpose of this contest is to work as many stations with different
prefixes that you can. You can work US and DX stations.

The exchange is a signal report (59 for contest default) and a serial
number.

What a great way to spend a snow-day...
