Hi Everybody,

Now that the stress of Valentine's Day is over I request your help with our
first public service event of 2011, the 2011 Lower Potomac River Marathon.
Please check out the link below.

http://www.cbrcmd.org/lpr_marathon_2011.htm

The race info is on the site, you can download and print it out for race
day. They have maps and water stops and other useful information.

The Race starts at 0715 on March 13. I would like to have all the
volunteers in the parking lot about 0630 - 0700.

All you need to help is a VHF mobile radio (preferred) or an HT. Other
things that are nice to have are a back up radio (an HT), Safety Vest,
Flashing Yellow Roof Light.

We will need about 6 - 8 operators. In the past we had a couple motorcycle
mobiles. They cover the Island and Light house roads because the roads are
narrow and without shoulders.

We use a leap frog type of coverage. You will want to bring some drinks and
snacks to hold you over until the Free lunch is served at the end of the
day.

This is a 26 mile race, and most of the support will be needed on the road.
If you have more than one vehicle - choose wisely...

The Race planners have set the course time at 5 hours 45 minutes. Most
racers will clear the course before Noon and we should be eating by then.

Please plan to join the racers for lunch. The seamanship school lays out a
nice spread.

If you can help please respond to me at kb3fww at arrl.net . Please provide
your name, callsign and shirt size. I'll pick up the shirts on Saturday.

We will have 5 x 8 cards with the operators names and callsigns, primary and
back-up frequencies. The cards will be passed out the morning of the Race.

Thanks for reading,

73, Ray kb3fww
