As Steve noted, although I am comfortable with the skills required to take and pass the Extra Class exam, I am not comfortable with my ability to present this information in a formal classroom environment. As Clint Eastwood said, “A man has to know his limitations.”
That said, would there be any interest in putting together a study group for the extra class exam.
In general, I would reserve a room for the study group to meet. The club would provide the ARRL Study Guide at my cost (I get a reduced rate and no tax or shipping/handling charge). The club would provide an instructor manual (which includes a CD with power-point presentations for each lesson. I would sketch out a 8 to 10 week lesson plan for the group to read and discuss.
I would not be involved in the sessions, but would be available to help a facilitator with the session preparation. This facilitator could be a volunteer Extra class ham or a member of the cohort.
This is just an idea at this time. Please let me know your ideas, suggestions, etc. Also, would a weekend or weekday meeting time be better?
Regards,
Tom Shelton, AB3IC
