Folks,
The weather looks great tomorrow (Saturday) so I hope the see a good
turnout of local amateurs at the annual SMCARA FD event. I just talked
to Gene Talley and we are ready to go. There are plenty of tables and
chairs in the building and the last thing to do is move the boat out of
one of the bays of the building. Gene hopes to have that done in the
morning. He should have the building unlocked by 9 AM tomorrow for John
J. to set up his Coast Guard station for the 9:30 AM bay patrol. I
expect most of us will be arriving at about 10 AM to begin setting up
the site for FD ops.
We have a grill - Ray, KB3FWW, will loan us his full-size grill. I'll
coordinate with him in the morning to get it loaded up to bring to
Hollywood. Terrie and I spent this evening shopping for the items that
the club is providing for food for the picnic tomorrow night at 6 PM
plus munchies for throughout the day and night. I have lots of water,
sodas, gatorade, chips of all kinds, chocolate chip cookies, hot dogs,
hamburgers, cheese, and other condiments. Walt and I will head out
during the day tomorrow and pick up the tomatoes, lettuce and other
sundry items. We have lots of paper plates, napkins, utensils, etc.
Now, here is what I need from you. If we want to have a great picnic at
6 PM tomorrow, we request that as many of you as possible bring a side
dish. Good things to bring would include salads (potato, macaroni, cole
slaw, fruit, etc.), fried chicken, baked beans, cakes, cupcakes,
cookies, pies, or any other specialties you may wish to try.
That's it... see you tomorrow (and bring a friend). Remember, leave the
pets at home PlEASE!
