Folks,

Just a quick reminder that the July meeting of the St. Mary's County
Amateur Radio Association (SMCARA) will be held this Thursday (28 July)
beginning at 7:30 PM at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum in the board
rom.

Our guest speaker for the evening will be Reg Townsend (KB3SMU) who will
talk about his use of HF radio during his recent sailing voyage to
Bermuda. Please plan to attend this information session.

I will be otherwise occupied tomorrow, providing the sound reinforcement
for the summer musical 'The Music Man' at Great Mills High School so our
very able VP, Tom Clarke (W4OKW) will be hosting the meeting. BTW, here
is a shameless plug:

If you want to see a truly great show, think about attending one of the
upcoming shows of 'The Music Man' this weekend (this is the last
weekend). Shows will be held on Thursday night at 7 PM, Friday night at
7 PM, Saturday at 1 PM (matinee) and 7 PM, and Sunday at 5 PM (final
show). The cost is very nominal.. Ticket prices are $14 for adults, $12
for senior citizens 60 years and older, and $6 for children 10 & under.
Matinee prices are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens 60 years and
older, and $4 for children 10 & under. If you have never seen a St.
Mary's County Recreation & Parks Summer Stock musical, you are in for a
real treat. The auditorium is air conditioned and very comfortable, you
can buy tickets at the door, and there is food and drinks available at
the intermission. This musical features a cast of almost fifty actors
plus 30 musicians in the orchestra. The sound is great (what else could
you expect from your President). The ticket counter at the show opens
about an hour before show times and the doors to the theater open 30
minutes prior to each show. There are no reserved seats... you can sit
anywhere you like. The cast is incredibly talented... you will be
amazed to say the least at the quality of the singing, dancing and
costumes.

Pictures of the show can be viewed on my web site at www.comfac.com on
the web. Scroll down the main page to the link provided next to the
musical logo to view. Perhaps I will see you there and can show you
some of the equipment we use to put on a major musical... I am currently
using a total of 41 microphones (including 18 wireless body packs on the
actors) through an automated mixing console to mix the show. If you
want to see some RF hardware, this is the place as we are using lot's of
wireless links for audio and video.

Whether you attend the club meeting or the show, I hope that you are
having fun this weekend!

  Vr, Pete (WA3UMY)
      President, SMCARA
