Hi Tom,
There used to be a digi in Loveville on the SHA tower behind the DMV.
It looks like that is no longer online. Tom Clarke had the K3NAL digi
down at the 64 repeater site going a few years back but I also think
it has been retired. A digi is really what is needed for full
coverage down here. If you want to set up an igate, it is as simple
as connecting the output of any radio or scanner to your computer's
mic or line in and tuning it to 144.39. A TNC is not required and is
actually overkill considering you need the computer running anyway.
You can probably get it going with what you have right now, even if it
is just part time with your main rig.
I had a full time IGate and IRLP to APRS gateway running in Hollywood
for years but shut it down due to lack of use.
What would definitely be entertaining for you is to make APRS contacts
off of the ISS. Check http://issfanclub.com for info about passes and
frequencies. You can easily get into the ISS digi with your mobile
whip at 50 watts and make contacts for hundreds of miles.
Also, have you checked http://aprs.fi ?
Have fun! If you need any help with anything, let me know.

these items? Anything else I need to add to the list?
