I found the mod easy to do and in speaking with Bob, KC3VO, he 
emphasized carefully setting the PA resting current as even as possible. 
Take both pots to CCW end and then bring one at a time up to the 
recommended current (i.e., adj one pot for 36 mils and then the next to 
bring it up to 72 mils or whatever the correct idling current is 
specified.).

You guys may have seen Bob at local hamfests.  He has the mobile rig 
with a 1KW amp in a small trailer behind his Goldwing!  He also has a 
750 watt backpack rig that he showed off at Dayton a couple of years ago!
