Icom 706, MK 2, or MK 2G are good candidates.  The 857D is a solid radio
also.

Looking for a used, in good condition, inexpensive HF mobile/portable to
get started.
Desire to be able to use at home and in the car for trips.

I've been looking at the Yaesu FT-857D but comparable units or
recommendations welcome.

Hoping to pick something up for  $500-600 or less.
