Hi all,

We are rapidly approaching our next major club event... our annual
winter 'pot luck' dinner and meet & greet on Saturday, 10 December from
6-9 PM at the Naval Air Museum. This is update # 2 to my first e-mail
sent several weeks ago.

  WHAT: Winter 'pot luck' dinner

SPONSOR: St. Mary's County Amateur Radio Assn. (SMCARA)

WHEN: Saturday, 10 December 2011 (starts at 6 PM, ends about 9 PM)

WHERE: Patuxent River Naval Air Museum (in the large exhibit hall)
Route 235 (Three Notch Road) in Lexington Park. The museum
is located 200' north of the route 235/Pegg Road traffic
intersection on the northbound side. Talk-in on the 146.64 MHz
(PL 146.2 Hz tone required) repeater in Lexington Park.

WHO: ALL Amateur Radio operators (whether a member of the SMCARA or
not); their families, friends and anyone else who is interested in the
great hobby of ham radio!

DETAILS: This is a LOW COST holiday event - we want your fellowship,
not your money. Don't feel like you have to 'dress up' - just come out
and have some great food and a good time in a casual environment, enjoy
the company of your fellow amateur radio enthusiasts and enjoy
the museum displays as a side benefit. The club station at the museum
will also be available for anyone who might like to operate during the
event.

Some of us will be at the museum about 5:30 PM to set up the tables and
chairs, plug in the coffee pot and ice down the sodas, etc. The dinner
will start about 6 PM or shortly thereafter depending on the time it
takes to finish setting everything up. We should be all finished about 9
PM.

The club will furnish the following items: tables, chairs, electrical
power strips for plugging in crock pots and warming trays (bring them if
you are bringing a heated entree), utensils, napkins, cups, coffee, ice,
sodas, water, dinner rolls and condiments.

What we need from all of you is to bring something to share. It's been
really amazing what folks have brought for previous winter dinners... the
variety is amazing. Here is a list of suggested items to give you some
ideas on what you might wish to consider bringing:

Meat dishes:
- Meatballs
- Chicken salad
- Ham sandwiches
- Chicken (baked/fried/dumplings or Turkey
- Pulled beef or pork BBQ sandwiches

Dessert dishes:

Now, this is IMPORTANT:

Please send an e-mail to me (Pete Butt, WA3UMY) at petebutt at comfac.com
and let me know what you plan to bring. I'll post it on the club web
site so others will know what NOT to bring. The list is currently on
the main page of the web site (www.qsl.nete/smcara) and lists the items
already chosen by some of us. It will also help us ensure that there is
a reasonable mix of items so the dinner is a success. PLEASE let me
know by the middle of this coming week... thank you!

Be prepared to come on the 10th and eat lot's of food and have some fun!

NOTE: The SMCARA winter pot luck dinner traditionally replaces the
November and December club meetings which fall on holidays. Our next
regular club meeting will occur on January 26, 2012.

So get out your calendars right now and marked this date, Saturday, 10
December 2011, down. I look forward to seeing all of you this event.

  Talk it up!

  Vr, Pete (WA3UMY)
      President, SMCARA
