Hey all,

Much thanks to Pete for coming out this morning and giving me a
refresher course for HF. A good time was had by all especially my
daughter Kaylee who was able to operate (she is now hooked and very
excited for the class that is starting soon). We were there from 10:00
to 13:00 and only made one contact N1B a special event station in Rhode
Island. We tried for a short time to make contact with a couple Poland
stations who were participating in a contest with no success. While we
were operating, several groups of people came into the corner near the
station interested in what was going on.

I am personally planning to be at the museum the next couple of
Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00 with one of my kids operating the station
in the hopes to gain experience for myself and in the case of this
morning catch the attention of those are passing by. As we begin
upgrading our presentation it might be worth while to continue having an
operator or two present for a few hours on Saturday mornings and or
afternoons to help catch the attention of those that are passing by and
maybe offer to get them on the air in which case we could have operators
at their QTH help insure that they have someone to talk to. Doesn't have
to be HF as we have a FT-8800R dual band radio in the club's station. My
Daughter Kaylee talked to Jim (KJ4WAS) on 147.420 and was completely
excited to do so. I would imagine that those visiting the museum might
find it exciting as well.

I would like to give this a try next Saturday if a couple of you would
be willing to help. We will use the club's K3NHK callsign to initiate
the contact. Also if the schedule for the classes is finalized I would
like to make up some handouts to post at the station.

Thanks,
Dan Metcalf -- KB3UUN
