The following watches from the National Weather Service may affect us:

Additionally, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina have declared States of Emergencies.

The following information is from the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
We currently have a 40% chance of Tropical Storm force winds (>= 39 MPH sustained), up from 30% yesterday, a 10% chance of winds in excess of 50 knots sustained, and a less than 5% chance of Hurricane force winds (>=74 MPH sustained).
Currently the storm has a radius of about 125 miles and is a Cat 4, and is predicted to weaken to Cat 3 by the time it gets to us.
BTW - Hurricane Katrina was a Category 3 storm when it hit the Gulf Coast.
We are starting to see some evidence of Earl - The high clouds in our upper atmosphere are part of the outer bands of this storm.
