Hi all,
Another reminder that the October meeting of the St. Mary's County
Amateur Radio Association (SMCARA) will be moved to a special night this
week (due to availability of using the facility) and we will be holding
a special mini-swapfest BEFORE the meeting starts at 7:30 PM. So here
are the details once again:
What: SMCARA October meeting and mini-swapfest
When: Wednesday, 27 October 2010
Where: Patuxent River Naval Air Museum
Lexington Park, Maryland
(located just north of the Pegg Road & Route 235 intersection)
Talk-in on the 146.64 MHz repeater
Details:
Swapfest begins at 6 PM and runs to 7:30 PM or so
Meeting follows at about 7:30 PM or so
We will be grilling some free hot dogs and burgers during
the mini-swapfest... but, I need someone to bring a grill
if possible. If you can bring one, please call me on my
cell at 301-904-8401 so I can stop looking for one.
It may rain, so we have a large indoor space with tables
available - enter by the roll-up garage door at the left
front side of the museum. Electricity will be available
if you wish to demonstrate your equipment powered up.
There is no fee for selling, trading or swapping your gear.
Just come and have a good time.
Our only request... we had to put up a $100 damage deposit.
Please help us clean up after the event as the museum must
be left in the same condition as we found it. Also, you
MUST take everything out that you brought in, no junk left
behind. Thanks!
I hope to see all of you on Wednesday evening at 6 PM or so. Don't
forget that we will have free hot dogs and hamburgers so come on out and
enjoy a great meeting event.
Also, at the meeting to follow, it has been requested by members of the
club that we have a vote on making the 146.64 MHz club repeater run in
full-time PL access mode, i.e., you must transmit a continuous
sub-audible tone of 156.7 Hz on your transmitted signal to bring up the
repeater. This request is being made to minimize co-channel
interference between the various repeaters operating on 146.64 MHz. If
the majority of members vote to make this occur, we plan to activate the
PL requirement on 1 November. If you have any issues or concerns about
this planned action, please come to the meeting and let's discuss your
concerns. Thanks!
