[SMCARA] Stupid question of the day (SQOD)

EZNEC!  Halp!

I am attempting to understand what those wonderful trons are doing in my antennae when I step on the foot switch.  And downloaded the free version of EZNEC.  Interesting at best and am learning that I simply SUCK at it.  I have taken the example for a vertical antenna and I understand how to create a vertical of X height and and Z height above ground.  Radials...different story.  I cant get them to work.  I make one and found out that eznec cant do "ground mounted" radials and they have to be at least the diameter of the radial off the "ground".  But still..i cant seem to get a radial to model out without errors.

Any help or tips or links to any tutorials on eznec would be appreciated.  Even more if someone who has "mad skillz" could send an ez file with just one radial so I can see how its done and figure out how to do it.
