Greetings All!
I wish I was going to be back in time for the field day! I am in Colombia, South America for the month of June, getting back on the 29th. Hope you guys have a great time. I'll be sure to attend any events that may be planned for July.

Good evening everyone. For those that didn't make it tonight, we had our
June meeting and final field day setup meeting. Here is the short list and
basic brief.
We will be K3NHK this year (class 3A). Our call-in and info repeater will
be the 147.195 repeater NOT the K3HKI 146.64 repeater (for obvious reasons).
Setup time for Saturday has been adjusted to 10:00 AM. The site is again
the Hollywood volunteer fire station (thanks to Gene!) on 235 in the back of
the upper parking lot. (big antenna on the left, big white tent, geeks with
radios...that's us). Antenna setup will be around 11-ish. So please come
early to help with both setup sessions.
Logistics. Yep, we got that too! And we discussed assignments and folks
rogered up for various tasks. Summary:
I have the food pickup tomorrow as well as the field day bins from Pete
Pat (KB3CBQ) is acting "PIO" (notice the quotes and the word acting. She
has real world work stuff Saturday AM so she would be around till later).
And she has the ARRL flyers etc. to setup on the front table. Oh
yeah...forgot, she has some neat activities for kids so bring em! They
shouldn't be bored!
Radios are taken care of. This does not mean that you cant bring something
special to show, describe or operate.
Antennas are a done deal as well. Again, got some project you want to
test...feel free. Bring it, we will be more than happy to light it up and
give it a go!
Ray (KB3FWW) has the genset, a grill, and logging computers. What we do
need is possibly another op or two showing up at his house to help load up
vehicles. Please contact Ray direct or via the reflector if you can make it
(about 9:30ish) Boz (KG3BOZ) is a definite for this load out but more hands
make for light work!
Tom (W4OKW) has the band filters and gasoline for the gensets
Boz is bringing a B.A clock.
What else.....
Headsets. Bring some if you got pricey ones...obviously not, but if you
have good everyday headsets you don't mind being used, they would be
appreciated!
Personal items:
Its gonna be hot, sunny, and the skeeters will be there to feast on your
delicious hemoglobin.... Dress and bring appropriate protection.
(sunscreen, hat, sweat towel, wickie wear, OFF/DEET, you know the drill.)
If you need a personal fan, suggest you bring one. There will be two B.A.
fans to move some air but if you need that little extra puff of breeze...
Oh back to food for a second.
We should have plenty but if you have a special dish (like a
salad...beans...corn likker...(I keeed) please bring. We should have enough
ice (again, thanks Gene) to take care of food safety. If you have a B.A.
ice chest, that might be a good thing. Pete says we have enough chests but
better to have an extra one than need one.
Now for the ops.
We will run as late as the gang wants to run. Hoot owl? Good to go. One
rule. The site must be manned, even if you snooze there but the gear cannot
be left alone. Period!
And everybody's favorite part of Field Day...SUNDAY BREAK DOWN AND SECURING!
We all like to come and play, eat, chat and work the world. Now I need
folks to step up and commit to break the site down and police the area.
This will happen about 10am on Sunday. I will be going to early Mass so I
can be there about 8ish. Anybody else be there?
I will be off tomorrow and in the area. I can be reached on the .195, or at
home 240-725-0062, via email or via cell/text 301-247-6007 Either one will
reach me. (I check my home email on my phone so send or text me!) It will
be a busy day but we can be ready for Saturday. There are three last things
that we will need for Saturday.
YOU, AND YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
Come out, help setup and stay for the radio fun!
Holler if you have questions/suggestions/can help.
73 and see you all Saturday!
Ren, W3BNY
