[SMCARA] DX question

	I submit to the esteemed group:

When working a DX, how do you (the operator) know if you are receiving the
contact via
Long path or short path?  Do I need software to determine this?  Or do I
base it on the orientation
Of my directional antenna (or his)?  What if I do not have a directional
antenna?
