Haven't worked on a tv in 15 years or so, and never on a projection TV.
But my guess is that it is probably a capacitor or resistor in the high
voltage power suppy which breaks down under heat/load.
I would visually inspect the components in that section - chances are
you will not see anything suspicious, then I would resolder everything
in the area in case it is a cold/corroded solder joint. You might
get lucky.
