All,
The 146.64 K3HKI repeater had a problem yesterday and is now fixed. The temporary PA broke into oscillation, locked in the transmit mode, and was transmitting garbage which caused noise and frequent random resets of the controller. When I got to the site the amp was too hot to touch.
I have replaced the PA with a new one and installed a fan on the heat sink to help cool it. The AC in the hut is not working, so the fan may help. The power is still about 8-10 watts into the duplexer, with 5-6 making it to the antenna (6 db gain).
Still working on replacing the regular 110 watt repeater PA, which we run at 1/2 throttle for longevity.
