Radios: I can bring the IC-735 and IC-751A from K3NAL.
Laptops: Same thing, I have 2-3 available. These are old 386 DOS
machines, but they work for the logger. Maybe K3DSP can tune them up
for us to make sure the logging works.
Generator: Probably taking up valuable floor space in Pete's garage. We
need a distribution system (multi outlets and extension cords) also.
Antenna: I will bring the GRC-?? Army green antenna pole for hoisting
up a VHF ant, etc.
More as I think about it....

Subject: [SMCARA] Field Day June 28 - 29
St. Mary's County Amateur Radio Association presents:
Field Day
June 28 - 29, 2008
Always the fourth full weekend in June
CQ St. Mary's County Hams de N3UH
This year the SMCARA will sponsor Field Day at the Hollywood VFD on
Three Notch Road in Hollywood, Maryland.
As your elected/drafted Field Day coordinator I need help in getting
SMCARA on the air and making points for Field Day.
BIG Tent: Garner --W3SI
Recreational Vehicle: help needed
Fooooooddddd: help needed
Grill: Me --N3UH
Needed Big Burly Ice Road Trucker dudes that can lift 3000 lb picnic
tables to set up under the tent!
Ladder Fire Truck for Antennae:Gene Talley N3NO
Power Generator: The club has one somewhere .
Radios:
Laptops with logging programs
Antennae:
Listed below are the abreviated rules and needs for Field Day!!!!! See
my notes.
"2. Object: To work as many stations as possible on any and all amateur
bands (excluding the 60, 30, 17, and 12-meter bands) and in doing so to
learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions.
A premium is placed on developing skills to meet the challenges of
emergency preparedness as well as to acquaint the general public with
the capabilities of Amateur Radio."
>>>The object here is to have fun and invite people and make contacts.
"3. Date and Time Period: Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of
June, beginning at 1800 UTC Saturday and ending at 2100 UTC Sunday.
Field Day 2008 will be held June 28-29, 2008."
>>>>2 pm Saturday till we all get tired and that is usually before the
end of the contest.
"4.1. (Class A) Club / non-club portable: Club or a non-club group of
three or more persons set up specifically for Field Day. Such stations
must be located in places that are not regular station locations and
must not use facilities installed for permanent station use, or use any
structure installed permanently for Field Day. A single licensee or
trustee for the entry is responsible for the group entry. All equipment
(including antennas) must lie within a circle whose diameter does not
exceed 300 meters (1000 feet). To be listed as Class A, all contacts
must be made with transmitter(s) and receiver(s) operating independent
of commercial power mains. Entrants whom for any reason operate a
transmitter or receiver from a commercial main for one or more contacts
will be listed separately as Class A-Commercial."
>>>We will be class A. Transmitters?? Call Sign--Same as last year?
"
4.1.1. Get-On-The-Air (GOTA) Station. Any Class A (or F) entry whose
transmitter classification is two or more transmitters may also operate
one additional station without changing its base entry category, known
as the GET-ON-THE-AIR (GOTA) station. This GOTA station may operate on
any Field Day band, HF or VHF, but is limited to one transmitted signal
at any time."
>>>>>Good way to get non hams on the air. There is a complicated point
scheme in section 7.
7. Scoring:
"7.1. QSO Points 7.1.1. Phone contacts count one point each. 7.1.2. CW
contacts count two points each. 7.1.3. Digital contacts count two points
each
7.2.3. If any or all contacts are made using an output power up to 150
Watts or less, the power multiplier is 2 (two)."
>>>>This is the hard way to earn points. There will be a lot of QRM on
FD on SSB, however, if die hard CW hams are willing to set up a CW only
station in a trailer or something that nature let me know. A CW station
will rack up points for the FD total. Likewise with a digital station.
for racking up points.
