Hi Folks!

  Please join us this Thursday evening, 24 January 2008, at 7:30 PM for
the January 2008 meeting of the St. Mary's County Amateur Radio
Association (SMCARA).

  Our Guest Speaker for this meeting is Dwayne Kincaid (WD8OYG), owner of
LDG Electronics, who will be making a presentation on the Southern
Maryland Link System (SMLS), an interconnected series of local VHF and
UHF repeaters with access to the IRLP and Echolink voice-over-IP
systems.  The SMLS provides local amateurs with a tremendous technical
resource to talk from Point Lookout all the way north to the Washington
metro area with just your hand-held radio.  Ask questions directly to
the person responsible for the technical implementation of this new
capability

  Come on out and support your local ham radio club.  Everyone is
welcome... members or not.  Bring along your neighbor or child, this
should be a fun evening.  Feel free to sit down at the club-sponsored
museum station (K3NHK) and make a contact or two.  Doors to the museum
open at 7 PM, meeting starts promptly at 7:30 PM.  Refreshments provided
(free).
