Hi everyone,

Next weekend is the Annual SET (ARRL Simulated Emergency Test) .  I received
a message from the SEC (Section Emergency Coordinator) to remind everyone
that the SET will be on the 6th and 7th of October.  Details will follow.

Visit the ARRL website and search "SET" for general information.  I will
pass area specific information to you as I get it.  The main focus of pass
SETs has been digital message traffic.  More information about that subject
is available at www.arrl-mdc.net , scroll down to General Information and
click on "Winlink 2000".

At this time I would like to get the stations that are Winlink capable to
put your stations on the air this weekend. Please run Telpac and Paclink
together and set your radios to 145.030 mHz, simplex, no pl. Use the Winlink
site to update your station list in Paclink. Send emails to all the local
TelPac stations and send an email to w3yvq at winlink.org and introduce
yourself - nothing fancy, just say hi. CC me in all your traffic.

If you have problems, please give me a call (301 481-8056) and I try to help
best I can.

The Voice stations can help too by initiating some exercise messages to pass
to the Winlink stations.  If you don't know how, visit the MDC website at
www.arrl-mdc.net scroll down to "General Information" and click on "Basic
Traffic Handling".

We can secure the Winlink stations on Sunday around 1800.  That should
expose any problems before October 6th.
