Hi everyone,
The grass has been mowed, the tent should be up tomorrow (early Saturday
AM at the latest), the radios have been picked up, and the weather looks
spectacular for the weekend. Yesterday (Wednesday), Gene and Garner (with a
little bit of help from yours truly), put up the multi-bander HF beam
antenna on the 50' push-up mast and got the air-conditioner REACT trailer
positioned on the site.
So... it looks like we are almost ready. Again, the plan is for us to
assemble at the Field Day site in Hollywood at 10 AM on Saturday to complete
the setup (rear of the parking lot at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire
Department... turn at the blinking light just north of the Maryland Rt.
235/245 traffic light in downtown Hollywood). We need to get the tables set
up, put up the rest of the antennas we plan on using, get the food and sodas
iced down, set up the electrical power system, get the fans running, getting
the grill set up, put up the tent lighting, set up the Public Information
Table, set up and check the radios and perhaps do some training on logging.
Lot's of things for everyone to do... plan on helping us tackle the myriad
details of getting ready for a fun day.
Perhaps you saw the article that we got published in Wednesday's
Enterprise newspaper (in two places no less). Dozens of posters have been
hung in the various post offices and in the libraries. Let's hope we see a
few more walk-ins this year that we can sit down and demonstrate the hobby
to. Don't forget to bring something to share with the rest of your friends
at the annual club picnic to be held on Saturday evening at 6 PM at the
site. The club will be furnishing the hot dogs, hamburgers, fried chicken,
sodas and all the fixings... what we could use from all of you would be
salads (macaroni, potato, fruit, etc.), baked beans, deserts, fruit, etc.
Again, this is your event so please come on out and help us introduce the
hobby to the newcomers. I look forward to seeing all of you during the 24
hour period beginning at 10 AM on Saturday.
