I'm doing a year with Volunteer Maryland and am
serving at the Greenwell Foundation there in STM
County     Their first annual Fall Festival is
scheduled for 10/28     The festival will include
mounted trail rides, a 2K walk-a-thon, and other
scattered events they will be setting up a first aid
station and were concerned about safety issues during
the walk. I think a group of radio amateurs could use
this opportunity to show the flag and set up an events
driven radio op that would demonstrate amateur radio's
ability to enhance safety at public events. the
operators might also be asked to direct people and
answer questions, but I think we can avoid being asked
to do the "heavy lifting". Is there a group or project
officer in STM that would like to take on the task? 
The setting is beautiful and the park is probably one
of the most under-utilized ones in Southern Maryland.
The ops could probably all be done in simplex mode and
I can poll the hams up here with CARA to find some to
help
