 1. Our monthly MDC Section Echolink net will be held tonite on WB3GXW
John Creel's server "WASH_DC" node 6154. A number of repeater operators
across the section have linked their repeaters to the net so that their
users can check in via the repeater. The net is a section news update
and a chance to exchange information for the good of the section. It
also gives us a chance to practice using Echolink in the event we need
to use it for emergency communications.

 2. The Marine Corps Marathon will be run on October 29. This is a
joint effort between MDC and VA. Of the 120+ volunteers last year who
helped out with the fifth largest marathon in the world, only about 16
were from MDC. It's a great opportunity to test out your emergency gear
and provide a highly visible presence for Amateur Radio in the Nation's
Capitol. Please visit www.ncacdc.com for information and to sign up to
help. The Oct 21 ARES Institute will devote several hours to Marathon
 participation.
