Message forwarded to SMCARA e-mail list by WA3UMY on behalf of Dan Hatcher,
KD3CQ. The K3NHK station is sponsored by the St. Mary's County Amateur
Radio Association. In addition to Dan's recommendation to go the ARLHS web
site, there is also information on this special operating event on the
SMCARA club web site at http://www.qsl.net/smcara

Subject: K3NHK Volunteer Operators needed
Importance: High

Folks:

Plans have been made to have K3NHK (Patuxent River Naval Air Museum Club
Station) active during the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS) Spring
Lites QSO Party and to participate as a Lighthouse activation, very much
like a Special Event type of operation.

The Cedar Point lighthouse cupola now resides at the Museum and is
recognized and designated by the ARLHS as USA-1020 Cedar Point (Patuxent
River Naval Air Museum), MD. As near as I can learn, this is the only Air
Museum that has a lighthouse, so this will be a most unusual activation
event.

The station is located inside the museum and is available Tues. - Sun. from
1000 - 5 P.M. The QSO Party begins at 0001z on Apr. 15 (8:01 pm. Fri. eve.
the 14th) and runs through 2359z Sun. Apr. 23rd.

Information on the QSO Party may be found at http://arlhs.com & follow the
#3 Event Guidelines link on the left side of the home page.

I'll make up log sheets & have information on the Museum and the Cedar Point
lighthouse available for station operators - let's get the word out on a
great museum (and have fun talking to lighthouse and aviation interested
folks).

If you would be available to operate, please contact me w/ your name, call,
phone #, and possible dates & times (not certain that the Museum is open on
Easter).

Also, mobile stations could operate from the Museum parking lot, other area
lighthouses (Piney Point, Point Lookout, Drum Point), and also from the
shore while looking at those out in the water (Hooper Is., Point No Point
and Cedar Point, now known as USA-1020H (historic)). I can provide mobile
operators w/ the lighthouse ARLHS designations and details.
