[SMCARA] Local Digital TV Channels - 24x7 Doppler Radar

I recently purchased an HDTV receiver for my satellite system. It has an
"over the air" input to hook up a standard terrestrial antenna so I hooked
it up to a VHF/UHF TV antenna pointed towards DC. Even this far away, it is
working like a charm. Channels 4,5,7, and 9 are all transmitting digital TV
now and they are crystal clear. Funny how everyone went from antennas, to
cable/satellite, and now antennas are making a comeback. It's kind of like
the old days.
Here's the neat thing - Channels 7 and 9 are transmitting realtime doppler
radar 24x7 on separate dedicated TV channels (labeled 7-2 and 9-2 on the
tuner). As this thunderstorm is passing tonight, I'm watching realtime
doppler weather radar right on my TV. Channel 4 has taken this one step
further and have what is like a local "weather channel" with constant
updates, forecasts and radar for the local and regional area. They call it
"Channel 4 Weather Plus".
If you have an HDTV capable satellite receiver or one of the newer digital
ready TVs with a digital tuner, hook up your old TV antenna if you have one!
Not only can you view crystal clear digital TV for FREE, but you can have
24x7 local weather and radar.
73!
