Started my ham radio fun (40 + years old) with a BC348 (HF) receiver and a
SCR522 (VHF) transmitter/receiver combination working at 145Mhz. Thanks to
my ole friend Rick for sharing

There was a good piece on available military radios to be modified or used
for ham radio use in the eHam.net discussion article area.
http://www.eham.net/articles/10558

I thought the documentation was well done with links to Web sites selling
military surplus radios at the end of the article. I was happy to see that
my old favorite "Fair Radio Sales" is doing business in the 21st century!
My Heath DX-40 sports a replacement transformer purchased from them in 1962.

"Roger wilco" and all that military speak. Worth a read and has the usual
assortment of eHam comments following the article.

One thing I noted for the equipment mentioned in this article: whatever
happened to the 10-buck receiver and 20-buck transmitter from the ARC-5
era? These things are enormously expensive!!
