CNN International to Feature Ham Radio
New York and New Delhi, 12 April 2005 - Worldwide cable news channel CNN
will feature a segment on ham radio operators' response to the 26
December tsunami and the March earthquake aftershocks that struck
countries around the Indian Ocean.
The segment focuses on the HF and Echolink operations of Bharathi
Prasad, VU2RBI, who served as the main contact point for ham radio
traffic in and out of India in the wake of the devastating tsunami.
Prasad will be appearing at the Dayton Hamvention this year, where she
is being honored for her outstanding service as a radio operator during
this emergency.
More details about the amateur radio tsunami relief effort and Prasad's
operations appear on the Amateur Radio International Communications
Coalition (ARICC) Web site, at http://www.aricc.org.
The feature will air on CNN's Global Challenges program, on the CNN
International channel. It will air every Saturday and/or Sunday,
beginning this coming weekend, for four consecutive weekends.
