See below. There is some very interesting history. My parents had a TV that had
channel-1 on it. When I first got licensed as a Technican I was on six meters AM.
My dad would turn that TV on Channel-1 just to see what I was up to or harrassment
about TVI.
Wish I kept the TV..

Do you know how the present-day TV standard came about? What ever happened
to TV Channel 1? Below is a version of that story prepared by chapter
member John Reiser, WQ4L, who writes:
"This is a paper I had while at the FCC to respond to all the inquiries sent
to me on what ever happened to TV Channel 1. It is... an expansion of
material that was first written for Radio Electronics Magazine many years
ago. I am still receiving inquiries so found the paper in my old hard
drive at the FCC and did a little new editing."
