Greetings all de Ren KB3JLZ.

Last night was the SMCARA meeting and was very informative (the swap meet
afterward was pretty good too!). But one of the "new" buisness topics last
night was our actions/response during hurricane Isabel. In discussions with
Pete (WA3UMY), David (N3YZU), Grant (KE4RTJ) and others, we pretty much
decided that we were very lucky. Not only because of Isabels loss of power
when she met us but also how we reacted. Im not saying that we didnt do a
good job, but we could have been much more efficient (training/practice?).

So, in talking with some of the group, I would like to propose a working
group/lessons learned breakfast (dutch of course) next Saturday 4 October at
0800 at the Roost (or another location to be named later if Dave cant get us
into the roost). Some of the topics to be covered are

*	Peer review of our performance
*	Lessons learned from participants
*	Training requirements/opportunities (Red Cross etc.)
*	Future action items/plans.

You dont have to be a member of SMCARA to attend and non Amateur REACT
members that assisted on the other bands/freqs would be welcome as well. I
would like to specifically invite Bob W5BTC and our Red Cross Rep (sorry
forgot his name and call!) to be there if at all possible. So please plan
on attending.

In closing, we are not out of the hurricane window yet and the winter storm
period is quickly approaching us (you long time county residents can
probably tell some stories of the 96 winter storm!). Speaking for myself,
Mother Nature normally dosent give us a heads up for a natural disaster but,
in some cases, we do have time to be prepared. I for one, desire to be
better trained for the next WX event. How about you?

73 and hope to see you all there.

P.S. Im kinda email/internet handicapped at the QTH right now so would
someone be so kind as to see that this gets the widest dissemination
possible?  Thanks RJR.
