Hi folks,

The annual November/December combined meeting of the
St. Mary's County Amateur Radio Association (SMCARA) will
be held this week (Wednesday evening, 4 December) at the
NEW Lexington Park library. The meeting will begin
promptly at 7:30 PM and will be chaired by Vice President
Tom Clarke, W4OKW.

The NEW Lexington Park library is located on South Shangri-La
Drive, directly across the street from the Lexington Park
Elementary School which, itself, is reaching completion of
its two-year renovation. The easiest way to get to the
library is to turn onto Willows Road from Great Mills Road
by the Roost Restaurant and proceed one block. Bear to the
right at the Lexington Park Baptist Church and the library
will be on your right about 1,000 feet down the road. Make
a right on the entrance road and park in the lot in the
front of the library (which is the side AWAY from the main
road). Confused? You betcha... but hey, that's the way
the Planning and Zoning folks wanted it. Why NOT face the
library into the woods and away from the street and school!

The alternate way to get to the library is to proceed
down Great Mills Road (MD Route 246) AWAY from Gate #2 of
the Naval Air Station and make a left at the traffic light
by the Burger King onto Essex Drive South. Go one block
and make a left onto Shangri La by the J.F. Taylor building.
Proceed down the street about 2,000 feet and make a left
into the library access road.

We will be meeting in the LONGFELLOW B conference room.
Enter the library through the main doors facing the parking
lot and proceed straight ahead. Enter the door to the right
that is facing you across the lobby. If you haven't seen
the new library, get their a few minutes early and take a
look at what your tax dollars went for. As you enter the
main doors, turn right and proceed down the hall to the
main library spaces. It's pretty impressive!

We hope that as many of you will try to make it out for
the meeting as possible. Although I won't be able to make
it to the meeting, Tom will ensure that things run smoothly.
We need to have your inputs on which facility you like better
for the meetings... the T&E museum or the new library. Tom
will be discussing all of this during the meeting.

So don't forget... come on out to the meeting THIS WEDNESDAY,
4 DECEMBER at 7:30 PM!

  Thanks....

  Pete Butt, WA3UMY
  President, SMCARA
