WFO Morristown, TN will not let anyone who is not employed by the NWS access NWSchat, so this gives me a way to at least monitor what is going on across our 39 county CWA. The weather can be vastly different over the Cumberland Plateau or up near Knoxville as compared to the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. However, it is important to note that WFO MRX is very ham radio friendly with the WCM a general class ham operator. WX4MRX is outfitted with two dual-band/cross-band VHF/UHF transcievers and a full HF system as well. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the terrain combined with covering portions of three states, we do not have a linked radio system. When activated, WX4MRX monitors seven different radio frequencies, but they tend to remain on the frequency where the most severe weather is occuring at a particular time.
