Interesting.
I browsed around the website whose URL* you provided,
http://www.geocities.com/mccem , but was unable to find the article
within. I can't help wonder what's its source.
(*URL - Uniform Resource Locator - The World Wide Web address of a
webpage on the Internet.)
Might I suggest a couple of options:
1) Provide the entire URL that goes directly to the article, instead of
just the homepage of the website where the article is contained. It's
easy enough to find the website's homepage from the article's URL, but
not so easy to find an article on a website when only the homepage
address is provided.
2) If the information was received in an email, provide the source as
best you can. ("I got an email from the local NWS, and it says...")
Better yet, if you're going to disseminate information from such an
email, first see if you can find a [credible] website that contains the
article so you can provide a working link. If one person does the
browsing-work to provide verification information, then everyone else
who's interested won't have to do duplicate browsing for the same
verification.
3) If this was original research, then take the credit: "I've been
keeping records of the data, and I just found..."
My last attempt was to google the exact phrase "RECORD NUMBER OF DAYS
WITHOUT A TORNADO IN OKLAHOMA," but no results were returned.
Regardless, everything I read on the Skywarn list _must_ be true
(including Nuclear Bombs Kill Tornados), so I'm sure the longest-string
statistic is accurate. I hope Oklahoma makes it past "1000 Days."
Unfortunately, since I cannot verify the article's accuracy, I cannot
see my way clear to passing the information to anybody else.
Searching..., searching...,
Ah, here ye go:
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/OUN/PNSOKC
Lloyd quoted the title accurately; I don't know why Google doesn't
recognize it. (Don't ask me how I found it.)
