Greetings from your broadcast friends out on the Desert...
This is BDR Newsletter 812, Volume 16, #32 for March 12, 2025

AN EF2 TORNADO VISITS A TV STUDIO
It was in Lake Mary, FL. Some exterior camera show interesting footage - you might notice one of the satellite dishes and a light are knocked over ... at least while you can see.

THE DST CONTROVERSY IS BACK
Yes, there are those that love it, and those that hate it - usually depending upon where you are in each time zone - and latitude. Politicians are again pushing year round "Standard Time" or "Daylight Saving Time." It will be interesting to see if Congress settles on one or the other this year.

SYSTEM HEALTH
We often talk about the health of our rf systems or the audio chain. But what about you, yourself? Between the doctors who have no appointments open for months or insurance companies that fight every claim sometimes we let things go a lot longer than we should, in retrospect.

This week, we want to focus on personal health and some of the things to which we really should pay attention. As a special guest, Curt "Cowboy" Flick will be with us to discuss the medical situation he has just overcome, and some pointers that the rest of us should consider.

Please join us Thursday at 2 PM Eastern Daylight ... as usual. You will learn something.  www.theBDR.net/TLG/

CONTACT FOR NRSC ... AND MORE!
From time to time, we try to remind you about ways to solve problems or get information from our colleagues. Several of the folks doing NRSC measurements are starting to firm up their circuit. Getting with them can save a lot of money by reducing travel expenses as they work their way through their clients.

On a more general level, the BROADCAST email list has been helping folks now for over 40 years with news, information, and assistance. Just for broadcasters ... and no bizarre ads. BROADCAST and Tech-assist are available at www.radiolists.net. We hope you will join us.

AM RADIO
The current status of the AM in Every Vehicle Act: 54 senators have signed on so far. Also, there was a meeting recently in DC attended by over 560 broadcasters seeking to get Congress to approve it and get it signed by the President.

Meanwhile, the Local Radio Freedom Act (as competition to the music industry's American Music Fairness Act) seeks to prevent more royalties on broadcasters. Thus far some 135 in the House and 20 in the Senate have signed on.

GPS OR PNT OR ....
The FCC continues exploring alternatives to GPS and the potential reliability of NextGen 911 networks. During the March meeting, a Notice of Inquiry will be considered to see what might be alternatives to the existing GPS, saying it has become indispensable to society but may be disrupted by bad actors - putting the nation's economy and security at risk. The NAB has already suggested a system they worked on: the BPS.

MORE BROADCAST FINANCE PROBLEMS
This week the NASDAC put Cumulus Media on notice that their stock could be delisted as the net shareholder value for some 400 stations is below the minimum for NASDAC listing. Eight years after a 1 for 8 reverse split that lasted only a few weeks, shares of Cumulus closed at 43 cents this week, well under the $10 million million.

PLEASE TELL US WHAT'S WHAT
There are so many areas into which we would like to expand, but it is feedback from you that helps us decided where to go first. Are you interested in a certain piece of gear or technology? Let us know. Even better, would you be willing to do a user report and share your experience?
