Hello All!

Unfortunately, NWS' Boulder and Pueblo have cancelled Skywarn Training Classes for 2025. Staffing levels currently do not support non-mission-essential activity. Cancellations by other NWS WFOs may follow. This has been a fast-developing situation, so keep an eye on your local NWS website if you intend to train.

At NWS Boulder, visit https://www.weather.gov/bou/spotters  and click the "YouTube" tab. Note that those aren't videos produced by Boulder.

NWS Pueblo plans 1-2 virtual trainings, dates to be announced. Visit https://www.weather.gov/pub/spotters  for Webinar announcements or click "Youtube" for video courses.

NWS Goodland is still listing their in-person classes. Visit the schedule at https://www.weather.gov/gld/2025StormSpotterTrainingSchedule .

As of Friday, NWS Grand Jct is making no mention of 2025 classes either way.

NWS Cheyenne is still listing classes for February. Visit https://www.weather.gov/cys/skywarn for the schedule.

NWS Norman OK provides in-depth Webinars. While they are central to OK severe weather, the classes apply to ours as well. To register, visit: https://www.weather.gov/oun/spottertalk. There are 3 Webinars available, with the last one on March 31 being an "Advanced" class. (Note, times are Central.)  I highly recommend Norman's training!

The Comet MetEd series of meteorological courses (and more) provides an endless array of study from basic to advanced, beginning with "The Role of the Skywarn Spotter". Visit the homepage at: https://www.meted.ucar.edu/index.php or the Education and Training page at (apply searches and filters): https://www.meted.ucar.edu/education_training?query=&page=1.

Stay tuned to the Severe Weather Network for developments, including our operations this storm season. I will be talking with our 5 NWS WFOs during the next few days, to see what we can do to further aid them during storm season 2025. At least one net, focused on SWN operations, is planned for March or early April, and I hope to conduct a 'Practice Reporting' net if it can be worked in.

All suggestions welcome! Thank you for your continued support of the National Weather Service and the safety of our communities!
