Hello All!

We are seeking at least 4 able-bodied people with a handyman/DIY knack to help with roof replacement of the Baculite Repeater Building at Pueblo. Tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 10. At this time it appears we may have a rain-free window, and it will likely require most of the day. The building houses internet linking and 2 SHL repeaters, both critical to Severe Weather Operations and SHL as a whole. It also houses a node radio hub for the CMRG and, soon, another repeater.

This is a fairly easy roof to work atop, with just a 4-12 pitch. Drip edges are about 7½  feet above ground. Roof dimensions are 13’ by about 5½’ on each side, so it isn’t large. Project consists of stripping asphalt sheeting plus deck, and replacing with new 5/8” plywood. Replacing the 2x4 drip edge plates. Applying self-adhesive underlayment. Installing metal gable edging and drip edges. Installing 4-5 sheets of metal roofing. W0KPH’s husband Earl and I will assist from the ground, handing tools, cutting and handing materials.

Bring lunch and snacks, plus a cooler with plenty of non-alcoholic hydration. Bring a folding chair. This is a somewhat remote site (no water or bathroom), a few miles NE of Pueblo with a nice prairie view. It’s a ~15 minute drive to the nearest facilities and restaurants in northern Pueblo. The repeater building is air conditioned.

Please email Gary with your phone number at [email protected]. More info available. We need your help to ensure this important SkyHubLink building and its valuable contents remain secure from the weather.

Thanks and 73,

Gary NC2WX
