Greetings all,

Evidently according to reports I have received somehow we have had some GMRS users show up on SkyHubLink.

Skyler, Jeremy, is there anyway to see how this might be occurring thru the internet connections?

This is illegal as these users do not have a amateur license, and it isn’t legal for ham operations to be on GMRS.  If they have crossed connected somehow to the amateur radio service then the liability for the connection lies with them.

HOWEVER, IF you hear someone doing this, please ask them in a kindly manner how they may be connecting and inform them that it is NOT legal.  BUT REMEMBER, YOU are an AMATEUR RADIO AMBASSADOR, please remember you will be leaving an impression that could turn them on to or really turn them off to amateur radio.  Please give them our website and contact information so maybe we could impress upon them the merits of amateur radio.  We NEVER want to be rude and authoritative.  But educational and friendly in the manner.

And, if they give a GMRS “Callsign” GENTLY remind them that they could be fined for illegal operation on the ham bands with GMRS.

BUT We would LOVE to have them as amateur radio operators.  Lets always remember that when transmitting on the ham bands, lets always remember that we may not ever know who may be listening to us in our for-common-everyday communications.  YOU could be the one that someone hears and gets the impression of what amateur radio is really all about.

Thanks es 73’

Jack
