Greetings from your broadcast friends out on the Desert...
This is the BDR Newsletter Volume 13, #35 for March 30, 2022
Here are some things you might want to know about:
COMING UP REAL SHORTLY
If you are in Delaware or Pennsylvania, Friday - April 1st - is the deadline for license renewal applications. And 10 days later, (April 10th) the Issues & Programs filing for the First Quarter is due.
NO PRANK FRIDAY
It is worth noting the FCC gets more and more "grouchy" each year about April Fools pranks. A warning to air staff can prevent a lot of annoying correspondence, or worse, a fine.
WORLD BACKUP DAY
Tomorrow is World Backup Day, poised to remind folks of the need to have backups of anything you value. IT professionals urge us not to be procrastinators, only to find "something happened" and we are at a loss. If you want some more details,
take a look here.)
Meanwhile, the White House issued a Fact Sheet to make your company more secure from cyber attacks. The eight points have been relayed by many of the state broadcast associations, but if you have not seen it,
it is here.
MORE NCEFM PICKS
The FCC has selected
19 more tentative winners from the recent NCEFM Window.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT
This time, it is
Jampro that is in the BDR Spotlight.
THE SOLDERLESS STUDIO
With all the changes in technology, perhaps one of the more welcome ones is the ability to build and wire studios without a lot of solder and burnt fingers.
Ed Bukont, head of E2 Technical Services & Solutions is our guest for the BDR Lunch Gathering this week at 2 PM Eastern (11 AM Pacific), and will help us to see how new procedures can not only make site installations easier, but provide solid, reliable performance.
Information, questions, answers, and more.
For an invitation to the program, just reply to this email or visit
www.theBDR.net/TLG/ And, please feel free to invite colleagues to the Gathering. All I ask is that the URL not be published on the public Internet/Social Media.
DO YOU MISS IT?
Our discussion on how to set sound levels for podcasts and streaming on the Internet
is still available, as are our other videos.
GETTING READY FOR SPRING
If you are planning your NRSC measurement - or any other project this spring, this is a good time to contact some folks who can help.
NRSC or
Project Engineering. Give one of them a call and discuss your needs. It will save you time and money.
MORE FOR 100
March 1922 may have seen more licenses granted than almost any other month in the young broadcast industry. We have a few stories to tell, and some more are coming. They are
available here.
BUY/SELL
We have more than a few audio processors, codecs, consoles, transmitters, and someone wants some channel switches for an Arrakis 150SC. If you are a history buff, check out the assortment of Broadcasting Yearbooks from the 1980 to 2005.
Check them out here.

reason we encourage you to
invite your friends to subscribe. We are Opt-In
only... and we give you two promises (OK, four!):
(1) no inbox flooding - it is one-time-a-week, and
(2) we do not give out anyone's address.. ever.
(3) no cookies are placed on your computer.
(4) no Google ads are grafted onto your computer screen.
(Need to change your address? No problem. Or, what can we do to make the BDR more useful to you? Just reply and send us a note about what you like, or what you think is missing.)
...
JUST ONE MORE THING
Did you know the Newsletter is not an exact copy of the BDR site? We hope you will check out the main page -
