[SkyHub] NEED FOXHUNTERS! Interfering signal to Bailey Park County affiliated repeater.

Perhaps coupling Stan's and other's work with a map showing ham license locations would be useful.  Here is one, I think I played with a few others in the past.https://haminfo.tetranz.com/mapMartWT0Z Sent via the Samsung Galaxy A13 5G,an AT&T 5G smartphone

I've been too busy to play, but quickly cobbled a null-loop for a little chasing.  I had only about an hour at sunset to hit a few nulls at that 146.295 "open mic".   These first few are terribly placed; I'll try to do better tomorrow (if I can sneak out for
 a bit).

The "Black" line is a probable path for the US285 & Meyer Parkway at Aspen Park, though I could see the eastern end of this being even more northerly for terrain.  All the colored lines are shot from the west-endpoint and labeled with azimuth (I didn't find
any good support for the angles, so I approximated on this map) ...  Since this loop is strictly from junk and un-tested, the received null may be off by quite a bit as well.

These initial nulls do align well with N0BN / Daniel's thoughts on being close to the Downtown area.  Clearly, I need to get North and/or South and shoot a few more.

Excellent, Skyler!  Thank you for the information!

The FCC likely won’t do much as it isn’t interfering with commercial or public safety services.

I could throw something together to DF it but too busy with work right now, maybe if it’s still there over the weekend.

The Denver foxhunt group just put it on their mailing list today, and I’d expect to hear from one of them soon. The people over there are pretty talented and can usually locate things within a few hours.

The background audio on the interfering signal is back this afternoon. It was silent for most of yesterday. Now it sounds like a TV or commercial radio station in the background.

At what point do we consider contacting the FCC and asking for help locate the source of this interference?

I just drove from Bailey to Lakewood and heard noise the whole way including through Turkey Creek Canyon.  I didn't hear any background talk or music like yesterday.

I can't do a tone search right now but I'm wondering if the source is TXing a tone.  Related to that,  I'm wondering if the repeater had a glitch which turned off the RX tone requirement or if the squelch got set too low, something like that?

I'll try a tone search as soon as I'm finished with my business this morning.

I'll be downtown tomorrow morning to get new tires put on, and I'll be glad to drive around and try and help.

As I think I said I think it's coming from somewhere down there, perhaps near or north of Mile High Stadium.  I tried to do some body-shielded direction finding and that's what it seemed to show.

I can't imagine it could possibly be coming from somewhere near Aspen Park but I really don't know.

Actually, now that I think of it, when I drove through Aspen Park and Conifer late this afternoon maybe around 1800, I heard no noise although I have no doubt it could be heard up at the repeater site.

I have an S10 on both FTM300-DR and the FT5D at "The Village at Aspen Park”. I’ve been walking around the parking lot like a mad man, but without a Yagi there’s not much I can do. I’ve asked a few shops and checked in with the registered residence
of an operator (KF0EUX) close by, but they said their son (registered operator) moved out months ago, but they would double-check his room.

If someone has a Yagi, I think the parking lot at  "The Village at Aspen Park” would be the best place to start.

I’m calling it a night.

Just went north bound on 285 from Bailey(max S2-S3). Signal seems much stronger near Conifer Safeway(S8-S9).

And I just completed a weekly on-air conversation using the Palmer Lake repeater.  Ron, at KF0PLS lives in Monument, while Bill at KB0OHQ lives in the Broadmore.  There was frequent, almost constant, code-like interference (static)
that all could hear, drowning out our conversation.  That could be another basis for a fox hunt. And while I have no experience in a fox hunt, I'd certainly like to contribute however I can.

Hello,

Definitely not super experienced with this, but I’m going to drive around Bailey for a bit with the FTM-300DR in the car and FT5D to see if I can figure out where the signal is coming from. I’m not receiving any signal near my house (50 Ridge Ln,
Bailey, CO 80421). I only receive it if I move higher up.

Greetings all,
We need some able equipped and experienced amateurs who can help to find an Interfering signal to our friends with the Bailey Park County affiliated repeater.

The offending signal is on 146.295 and sounds like a constant key down, readable here in the Denver Metro area but MAY be in the mountains too.

I can hear the signal just below S7 here in Wheat Ridge, but am shielded to the south by Crown Hill.  The Bailey repeater is staying in an almost constant key down state due to this and is unusable at this time.

We would like to help our friends with the Park County ARS to find and eliminate the issue, sure that it is accidental but it needs to be found and rectified.

Thanks for Responding if you can help!  PRETTY URGENT NEED!  Please email or contact one of the cc’d email addresses.
