[SkyHub] Interactive Video Data Service

On tonight's net, I suggested that MURS was an outgrowth of the
Interactive Video Data Service. I was incorrect.

The IVDS was in the 218 MHz area and provided a "return channel" for
broadcast television stations so viewers could do things like order a
pizza from their TV. The old rules regarding this service are at
http://hallikainen.org/org/FCC/FccRules/1997/95/801/ .

Of course, people started ordering their pizza over the Internet instead
of their TV, so IVDS never went anywhere. The FCC renamed it the 218-219
MHz Service (rules at
http://plaintext.hallikainen.org/org/FCC/FccRules/2021/95/1901/ ).

Around the year 2000, I did some design work for US Telemetry to do
pipeline telemetry on these frequencies. Their license information is at
https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMarketSum.jsp?licKey=1109471
and is still called IVDS there.

MURS, on the other hand, is in the 150 MHz area with rules starting at
https://hallikainen.org/org/FCC/FccRules/2021/95/2701/ .

Sorry for the misleading information!

Thanks!

Harold
