For those of you who have a 991A from Yaesu,
You can easily get and send email over the air via the Winlink email system.
I have connected to the system using the K0NTS-10 Winlink node here serving Denver on 145.050 simplex. If you monitor the frequency you will here packet bursts so you know its there.
Here is a tutorial that I used for setting up my ke0vh at winlink.org<mailto:ke0vh at winlink.org> system using the free soundcard software and Winlink software.
I am sure this can be done with other radios, but haven't really researched that as I use a FT-991A.
We will talk about this on an upcoming NET soon.
