Hello fellow SJRA members!
I hope I'm using the right email address to let everyone know I have a magnificent Hallicrafters SX-42 for sale.

I call this my "Fat Man and Little Boy" special because it includes the receiver and the accompanying speaker.

I powered up the unit a few days ago. The radio produced a loud 60 cycle hum which I suspect is a power supply issue. Using a three foot long piece of wire for an antenna, a few stations came through the hum. My guess is the receiver can definitely be restored to its former glory.

Physical condition is pretty good. Audio gain dial on switch is slightly bent. Also, this thing is HEAVY!

This radio is obviously a classic, probably from the very late 1940's. The radio was gifted to me about 25 years ago by radio personality Jeff Kaye, whom I worked with frequently in Buffalo while he was Program Director of WKBW, then afternoon personality on WBEN. You most likely heard him in the Delaware Valley as the booth announcer for WPVI TV 6 and voice of NFL Films.

I checked various sources to arrive at an asking price. I'm asking $295.

Given my love for old radios, my decision to sell was very difficult but there is no sense holding on to it. I'm selling because I simply don't have time to repair it, and no place to put it in my shack.

So, if you are interested, please shoot me an email at mrslep at comcast.net mailto:mrslep at comcast.net

Thanks and best 73!
