[SJRA-Members] WCBS dies

 Hey guys, try to catch some of the WCBS 880 special broadcast throughout the weekend.

As of midnight tomorrow, after 60 years of all news radio, WCBS 880 will go away forever.  The station will become WHSQ, covering Mets baseball and ESPN.

This weekend, WCBS 880 will feature recordings of news broadcasts going back to 1932.

Now that FCC Regulations allow corporations to own lots of stations in a single market.  Audacy Radio also owns WINS, "You give us 22 minutes, we'll give the world."

I am now listening to a speech made by Amelia Earhart in 1932!

It's a shame to see a true  icon of broadcasting die.
