[SJRA-Members] ARRL DX CW THIS WEEKEND

The ARRL DX CW contest is this weekend.

 

It begins at 7 pm this evening (0000 UTC Saturday) and runs until 6:59 pm
Sunday (2359 UTC Sunday).

 

This is one of the largest contests in amateur radio and there is sure to be
lots of activity.

Propagation continues to improve overall.  As of this morning the SFI (solar
flux index) is 97 with K and A indices at 5 and 1 (lower number are good).

For comparison, last year during this contest the SFI was only 70 and
conditions were poor.

It should be relatively easy to work DX stations with only 100 watts and
basic antennas.

Based on conditions over the last week, openings on 15m and 10m are
expected.  The lower bands are also expected to be in good shape.
