Too many OTA things, eh?  Well this email is about JOTA: Jamboree On The Air which is a yearly Boy Scouts of America related event.

As Ken has been telling people and we’ve been discussing on the nets, tomorrow, Saturday October 16th K2AA will have multiple stations operating from the Pine Hill Scout Reservation in Pine Hill for the Cub Scout Fun Day.

We will be on 40 meter SSB and the K2UK repeater.  This is the 146.865 machine, and the camp is in the shadow of the repeater so we can show the Scouts how we communicate with HTs as well as more permanent gear.

Set-up is at 8-ish but the Scouts should start coming through starting at 9 AM and until maybe 5 PM.

How can you help?

(1) Be on the repeater.  While we appreciate a lot of people, please try to spread out so we don’t have 20 people at 9 AM, 5 at noon, and then nobody at 3 PM.  Ken is going to move Echolink to this repeater so feel free to connect with us that way.

(2) Look for us on 40 meter SSB.  If you hear us, please spot us and note it is a JOTA station so maybe other JOTA stations will head over and chat with us.  The Scouts enjoy talking to other Scouts on the radio.

(3) If you want to come out, that’s great!  The address is below.  We will have a prime spot along the main trail into the camp from the parking lot… look on the left and you should easily find us.  While one person can work with a Scout to get them on the air and carry out a QSO, usually the other Scouts and parents are asking lots of questions so it is easier to have someone else available to talk with them.
