Just to add and echo everyone else, my experience has been the following:
I just tested with my FT3D and was able to connect using the x button. Obviously you would need to be in range of the k2aa repeater. If theres another wires repeater by you, you'd be able to connect to that and then control it to join the k2aa room.
If you use the kit cable with a PC and the wires x and join the k2aa room you can do the same thing, although im not sure you will have the ability to have the repeater join other rooms
The hotspot rooms aren't the "real" rooms but with at least piStar, you are able to connect DMR to Wires type rooms. I can't confirm if the dmr rooms are "real" but i was able to talk to someone with dmr via my wiresx. "It worked" but not sure it was worth the effort-- was fun to try and see if we could make it happen :)
On a seperate note with piStar i wound up getting a screen and using someones code that displays flags based on call signs which makes it pretty neat when talking in those ysf rooms.
