          Ray,

I am still active on HF
even though not much happening most of the time.I check the bands most days ,if
conditions are anyway good I will make a few contacts. There is no way that I
burn the midnight oil like I did in the 80’s & 90’s chatting with guys at
your side of the pond.

I am still active with the
club, last year we changed the name to Limerick Clare Amateur Radio Club as about
half the 30 members live in County
 Clare.We did not want to
see the group split and form another club.

There is a place in Shannon Airport
called Shannon Air Adventures where they have a small museum as well where they
hold classes for people looking for Pilot licences ,they also have a Simulator
in the building .As well they have a small Museum that small groups visit .We
have been given a small area to set up an Amateur Radio  Station in the
building. Before Christmas we put up a Dipole antenna and made a few
contacts,we have been donated a small section of Tower and a Ham IV rotator .We
are in the process of ordering a Hexbeam antenna which will take 6 to 8 weeks
to be delivered. Some members of the club worked for Met services and Air Traffic
Control, we are going to set up monitoring units for weather and ATC as well as
an old Kenwood TS 940 for listening (the TX is not working) on the Ham bands, the
Museum people will be able to throw the switch when visitors are around. They
usually get a school tour once a week to visit ,we will arrange that one or two
of our members will be there to demonstrate amateur radio with the view to
getting youth involved. It will probably take a few months to get everything up
and running as nearly all of us are old Timers.Interesting times ahead. Have a
look at <atlanticairadventures.com> .

Would you believe we have not
been in USA since 2009,we had booked to go in 2013 but the day we were to
travel I was getting a pacemaker fitted and had to cancel trip.My sister from
Princeton comes home every few years ,she was here last year and coming again
this yearThe last few years we go to mainland Europe rent a car and take in as
many countries as we can in 2019 we visited 9 countries in central and eastern Europe
countries we thought we would ever see,I am fine as long as there is little
walking involved.

          I still  miss the many qso’s I
had with Joe W20RA and Matt W2MAT to name a few,all the other guy’s with Irish
connections that I used to talk to are no longer with us.

Be sure to pass on my best
wishes to all the guy’s in SJRA  from Honorary  SJRA member,

                                                                                                                                                                             Alan

Alan

It wonderful to hear from you across the ocean with good wishes. I've
been blessed as I pass through this process now for the third time! My right
hip was replaced 25 years ago and the left was replaced 10 years ago so I'm in
having the right hip replaced for the second time! I'm told I wore it out! The
technology has really changed over the years and they have you up and walking
in just three days. It's a wonderful time we live in where you can get
replacement parts for our bodies and be able to get around like a much younger
person.

So much for that and on to your health?

How have you been? Are you still active on the radio on what bands?

I'll look forward to hearing from you the next time. For I'll close as
the nurse has arrived to check on me.

Speedy recovery Ray,most
of us old fellows are at that stage of life when the hips and knees are giving
trouble, all the best from Limerick Clare Radio Club members across the Atlantic Ocean.

Ray!Everyone at Wednesday night’s SJRA meeting also sent their Best Wishes for
