Ham Radio Deluxe v6.5.0.187 Public Beta Available
As mentioned in my previous newsletter, our 6.5.0.183 release represented a whole lot of work. It's been very effective. The number of errors that have been reported to Microsoft (where we collect data) has dropped off to a level that I would almost call "statistically insignificant."
This is a BIG deal. If I were being objective and fair, I would say that there were times - prior to early 2017 - where our releases weren't always stable. But with the new developers and tools we're using, the releases are extremely solid.
That said, the 6.5.0.183 release was done in a "platform change" from Visual Studio 2015 to Visual Studio 2017. These kinds of changes are significant. This is why we worked on this code migration during the release blackout between 1-Nov and 2-Jan.
With all the preparation, there were three things we found after the release.
One had to do with a SAMDB1.DAT error when the user had configured Callook.info. We've solved this error. Another had to do with the removal of the 3rd Party Serial Port function. We listened to our customers and put that back (more about that in a moment). The third and last item had to do with a reboot after we updated a Microsoft product and the installation rebooted before it completed the update. We believe we've fixed that.
SO... given that we believe we have solved these things, we would like to get your feedback again.
I am making available the 6.5.0.187 beta release as an open beta.
You can download this beta at:

It's not necessarily my style to ask customers to test our software. But given the nature of the things reported following the release of 6.5.0.187, I felt that you can help us AND I want to have an open dialog with you that's transparent about what we're trying to do.
NOTE: The beta thing isn't for everyone. Beta software is beta for a reason. That is - we feel that there are things here we're looking for feedback on. This isn't "alpha testing" though... where we know there are problems we haven't solved. We believe we've solved the problems and that's why I'm making it available to you.
So please... feel free to give it a try.
IF you find that the installation is not complete after the installation runs, please DO run it again. Report this back to us on our forums at https://forums.HamRadioDeluxe.com. The technical support staff doesn't support beta releases.
Thank you, in-advance, for your patience and understanding.
If you're interested in joining the beta team, please let me know. I need a broader set of people who can test releases - particularly in the areas of rig control, rotor control, and satellite operations. Just mention it on our forums and I'll find you.
Thank you es 73 de Mike, WA9PIE
