Variable speed motors are in style now due to energy efficiency. From what I've read, avoid (continuously) variable speed motors. Use a motor that has a fixed number of speeds (windings). The variable speed controller may cause RFI. You may want to discuss RFI with the vendor but they may give you a "deer in the headlights" look.
Years ago, my oil burner ignitor / ignition coil was upgraded to a newer model. I now can hear the ignitor mixed in with KYW1060 news radio. Fortunately the ignitor turns off in about 30 seconds. I also hear the ignitor mixed in with my audio distribution system - it's very low level, but it's there.
